It's a miracle...

Both of my boys are sleep in their own beds right now! This is very exciting considering that Jaden only naps about once a week and Logan usually wakes up for his nap the minute I put Jaden down. It's a shame that I'm going to waste this precious time blogging.
We had a pretty good weekend my sister Heather and my brother Chad's family came over to Seattle for the weekend. It was fun to get together with them, but it was also a great motivator to get my house cleaned up a bit. Jaden loved having his cousins over and has been asking when they are going to come again (hint, hint).
Chad brought his guitar hero game for the wii and we were able to test our music skills. Turns out that Scott is quite the rock star! I on the other hand got booed off stage three times in a row! In other wii news Scott was able to get the the wii age of 20 in the sports game a few days ago...we're all so proud of him!

Logan is struggling with his hair these days. The poor boy lost all of his long locks except for the patch on the very top of his head. For awhile it was a pretty sweet mohawk, but now it's turned into a receding mohawk which just isn't nearly as cool. I've tried doing a comb over on him, but that darn hair just wants to stick straight up all the time. Good thing he's got those adorable chubby cheeks to distract from his crazy hair!

*This morning during breakfast Jaden was staring at his cereal pondering then looks up and asks me, "Mom did you know that Jack and Jill went up the hill?!"

A belated birthday post

It was Scott's birthday last week. He turned 27 which for some reason seems much older than 26. I guess we can feel 30 creeping up on us. Last night Scott was speaking at a youth fireside and he mentioned to the kids that he felt like he was still their age but in fact he is 10+ years older than most of them. Where did all the time go?!
Anyway, we had a nice party for him on Wednesday. By party I mean dinner at home with just us and the kids with a few gifts and cupcakes thrown in. Scott has been on a big self employment kick lately so he got a subscription to an entrepreneur magazine along with several books about running your own business. What business is it that is tempting this avid sports lover to consider leaving the sports industry? Good question, we aren't sure yet. Scott's really fired up about taking a risk while we are young. I on the other hand enjoy the benefits of health insurance, retirement and all the other things that come with working for a larger entity. I know 100% that Scott will be successful with whatever he does, but I am really afraid of the unknown. Scott is by no means ready to quit what he is doing now, but it is something that is always there in the back of his mind. We are open to suggestions, so if you have an ideas let us know.

Getting some help to blow out all those candles!

This was some silly game that we got Scott for this birthday. It was semi-fun but Jaden loved it so I guess it was worth the $4.75.

We took Logan to his third UW basketball game on Saturday and just like the two games before he slept through most of it. While he was awake they put his picture up on the big screen since he was decked out in all his husky gear. I was definitely proud to show him off...isn't he adorable?!

NBA here we come!

My sister-in-law sent me this link today that "predicts" how tall your children will be when they are 18. They use your child's current stats combined with how tall the mom and dad are to determine the height. According to them Jaden will be 6'6''! I guess that's a good thing since he is really into basketball right now. Scott is playing on a church league team and Jaden thinks that he is every much a part of the team as his daddy. He gets all geared up for game day and likes to warm up with the guys. So far we've been pretty lucky that he hasn't wanted to play in the actual game, but I'm sure the day will come.

Since we got our new computer this summer I haven't been able make videos taken on my digital camera to appear (I've put zero effort into figuring out why). Today randomly several videos showed up. Since this a sporty post (and I don't know if it will still be here tomorrow) I included this soccer video taken last June.

Storytime

I was changing Logan's diaper and asked Jaden if he wanted to go pick out a few books to read and this is how he interpreted a few. When I told him that there wasn't any room for mommy to sit down he looked at me half irritated (because it was so obvious to him) and said, "mommy you can sit on top of the books." Of course. What was I thinking.

Ringing in the New Year

We are back from our trip 10 day trip to Idaho and had a great time. Of course no Christmas trip is complete without a little sickness here and there. Jaden got sick in between Christmas and New Year's and then Logan caught it after that. Unfortunately Logan's turned into bronchitis so we have just been laying low since we got back. Thankfully Jaden has all his new toys to keep him busy while we are in lock down.

Have a Holly Jolly Christmas!

Since we are going to be with Scott's family for Christmas this year we made a quick to my parent's house for a little pre-Christmas get together. While we were in Yakima we were able to go sledding and show Jaden a mountainside full of reindeer (elk). We got to visit Derek's family who flew in from Pennsylvania and also Heather and Chad's family who live in Yakima. My parents came back with us to pick my other sister Melissa from the airport so I was able to see all of my family this year, even if it was for only a few hours.

Jaden did awesome sledding. Not only did he go down the hill by himself, but he also walked back up the hill while pulling his sled behind him. If we would of had to carry him up with us, I don't think we would have stayed nearly as long as we did. He was so funny there because every time someone would go down he'd yell "are you okay?!!!" If he was at the bottom of the hill he'd run over and try to help you get up and pull your sled. That night as he was going to bed he said "I had so much fun sledding with my friend (Grandpa)."

On the drive back to Seattle I turned around to see Jaden sitting there with tissue hanging out of his nose. I'm not sure where he picked up this little trick, but he was pretty insistent that I leave it there.
My parents gave us our gifts early.

My sister Melissa had a little boy just 4 days after Logan was born. We were excited to finally get the two of them together.

We had lunch at the mall today and tried to have Jaden and Mackayla sit on Santa's lap. Sadly, when we got there he was gone to lunch himself. Of course if he had been there I'm not sure there would be much of a chance of either one of them going anywhere close to him.
Thank you Mom and Dad for a wonderful Christmas, we miss you already!

Heart Warming

As I was reading some books to Jaden tonight one of them mentioned a heart. I was talking to him about how our hearts are inside our bodies and we can't see them. He then looked at me nervously and said, "Mommy I don't want my heart to go away, because then I have to get a battery". I'm not exactly sure what my grandma must have told Jaden about her new pacemaker she got put in a few months ago, but he for sure doesn't want anything to do with it!
