Butch's Holiday Bash and Snow

Last Friday we went to Scott's work Christmas Party. It was a big carnival put on by the student athletes. The boys walked away with a bunch of prizes and candy. Washington State's mascot Butch was dressed up as Santa and after some convincing we were able to get Jaden to take a picture with him. Awhile later he had built up some more courage and decided he wanted to sit on Butch's lap. He sat there exactly long enough for me to snap a picture and to say Merry Christmas and then he was outta there.

I think if we hadn't of stopped him he would have climbed all the way in.

Logan's favorite prize!

We also had our first real snow this weekend. Scott had bought Jaden some Skis at a ski swap recently so the boys decided to try them out in the back yard.

Strike One

As a parent you always want the best for your kids. When we were first pregnant with Jaden and also with Logan I would think about who my little baby would turn out to be. I would hope that my little boy with inherit a perfect combination of Scott's and my best qualities. I was also afraid that I would pass on to my kids three things: allergies, asthma and eyesight (for all those who knew me pre-lasik I'm sure you're getting a good laugh remembering my coke bottle glasses).
Jaden has had a cold this week and yesterday was wheezing so badly that I decided to take him to see a doctor. An hour and a half and 85 dollars later we were home with diagnosed asthma and an inhaler. I am hoping that his flair ups are few and far between since I never had it too badly as a kid. We'll just have to wait and see on that one...

My funny kid

We just got back (well several days ago really) from spending a little over a week in Preston for Mark and Halsey's wedding and for Thanksgiving. It was so nice to have Scott there with us the entire time!!! I just added several posts of our trip so if have the time take a look but I'm warning you there are a lot of pictures.

In addition to our trip pictures I also wanted to include a few conversations I had with Jaden today.

Me: Should we put in some Christmas music to listen to?
Jaden: Sure...is that High School Musical Christmas music you're putting on?
*Apparently Jaden has been hanging out with some 10 year old girls without my knowledge.

Me: Think about what you really, really want for Christmas.
Jaden: I did...I want a BRAND NEW KEY TO THE STORAGE SHED!!!

Me: We don't always know what Santa will bring us. He seems to know that we'll like whatever he brings us.
Jaden: Yeah, Santa knows that we like everything. Well everything except for smokes. He won't bring us smokes, he'll just bring the bad people smokes.

Trees

Our last day in Preston the entire Holt Family headed up into the mountains to cut down Christmas trees. This was our kids first snow of the year and it was so much fun to see them enjoy playing around and sledding in it.

They cut down 5 trees that day but since we were traveling so far home we didn't attempt to take one with us. Instead we came home and decorated our prelit tree...I love Christmas time!

Golf

The weather was really nice while we were there so Scott was able to take Jaden golfing. This was Jaden's first time out to the golf course and he was so excited to go. He was worried beforehand that he didn't have golf clothes. I'm not sure what he had in mind, but he seemed satisfied with his spiderman vest.

Of course Jaden had a great time and wanted to play every hole. I'm sure this slowed them down quite a bit, but Jaden has a very patient Dad and Grandpa. Scott said the only big problem was when Jaden was left alone in the cart he started driving away with it. He got about 15 feet in it before he was stopped, to which he innocently replied "I was just coming to pick you up dad".

Wedding Day

I forgot my camera at the temple, but we did manage to sneak a quick picture of with the happy couple later on at their reception.

This is a pretty good shot of Logan's bald spot.

We finally got to meet our newest nephew Blake.

Josh and Katie brought their bounce house and set it up downstairs during the reception. It was obviously a huge hit.

Another big hit for the kids was helping to decorate Mark and Halsey's car.

It was bound to happen

Jaden found where the scissors were hidden and cut his hair. It was a smaller chunk noticable, but not too bad. Unfortunately, he decided to cut his little brother's hair too, and that didn't turn out as well. Poor Logan has the craziest hair anyways with his double cowlick and now the front of his hair is butchered. We buzzed his hair pretty short today, but Jaden had gotten so close to the scalp that there is still a big hole in the head. Lucky for Logan he gets to show off his new look to everyone in the Holt family this weekend at his Uncle Mark's wedding!

This is during the attempt to fix the whole. You can't see it very well in this picture, but there is a big hole right on the top.

Half Boy, Half Bear

I've decided that is the best way to describe Logan these days. I think the boy would hibernate all winter if we let him. He seriously wants to sleep all day and night and when he is awake he merely growls for some food then heads back to his room.
I'm not quite sure how he managed to get his arm loose during the night. I think he just wanted to show of his muscles.

Maybe he sleeps all day because when he's awake I put those boys to work!

We went to our last football game of the season on Saturday. The boys and I didn't stay long because it was cold and rainy (and because our football team is horrible). We had a good time while we were there though.

Jaden was pretty excited about the cougars scoring a touchdown. In fact I think the entire stadium was extremely excited...it's been awhile. Jaden kept cheering "GO COUGS" and got lots of laughs from people around us. He then went on to yell "GO BYU"over and over, he didn't get quite the same reaction that go around. It's confusing for a kid to have to cheer for two cougar teams.

Halloween

Halloween was a success again this year. Jaden had picked out his costume over a month ago and has been dying to finally wear it. On Thursday we had our ward Halloween party after the party we jumped into the car and drove to Yakima for the weekend. Friday the kids were able to go trick or treating around my parents neighborhood and go to their cousin's ward Halloween party. Needless to say we have an abundance of candy around our house now. The boys do pretty good at not asking to eat it all day...if only I could keep my fingers out of it!

Right before our ward party Jaden spilt a 4 inch hole in the seat of his pirate pants. I considered not sewing them back up, showing his underpants seemed like a pirate thing to do.

Our cute little dinosaur

Scott and I have decided that in the future we need to invest in a couple of adult costumes so we can start dressing up with the kids. We found a pirate costume at my parents house that I think was worn by several of us kids when we were about 10 years old. It was a stretch but I think Scott pulled it off beautifully!

Getting ready to head out the door to score a little candy.
Practicing first at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Logan did a pretty good job at carrying his own little bucket around.
