Logan turns 4!

Logan has been looking forward to this birthday for a long time and for the past month has been asking each morning if it was almost his birthday yet. Finally the day came and our little Logie turned 4! Logan got to start the day off with taking cupcakes to this preschool class. He told me excitedly beforehand that he was going to get a birthday crown from his teacher but of course when the time came he refused to wear it.

This is Logan's "I'm so excited it's my birthday" face.

Logan had been planning on having a super hero birthday party, but a few days beforehand switched it up to a Bob the Builder party. As per tradition I needed to come up with a themed pinata. I ran out of time to do anything cool so we ended up with a round ball that had Bob's overalls on them with a picture of the tractors on the belly. Pretty lame, but Logan thought it was awesome so that's all the really matters.

It's fun that Cannon and Eden are getting big enough to take part in the activities.

We found a gift on our front porch with an envelope to "Lil Jimmer". Logan and Jaden were both so excited to see what was inside and who it could possibly be from. It was from Coach Tim, a teenager from our ward that helped Scott coach the boy's basketball teams last year. Our boys love Coach Tim and just last week Jaden made the comment that maybe he'll ask Tim to baptize him when he turns 8. Tim gave Logan a little basketball, with sock nike socks and a nike sweatband - super exciting for Logan!

Logan has been asking for a dart gun for the longest time and Grandpa and Grandma Hatfield did not disappoint. No one is safe in our house anymore!

1st day of school

Summer came and went way to quickly for us. We tried to enjoy the last few weeks of summer break by being outside as much as we could. Dinner most nights were in the backyard at the picnic table and we stayed up late riding bikes and going for walks.

Scott was polishing his shoes one morning (I'm pretty sure no one else still does this) and the kids couldn't resist grabbing their church shoes to shine as well. Yes, Logan is doing this in the front yard in his underpants.

Sadly it was time for school to start. Jaden was super excited to start 1st grade and now almost two months into the year he still enjoys it. It still amazes me that I have a child this big.

We put Logan in preschool this year for two days a week. It has been really good for him to have something of his own to do and he loves being able to tell his school stories around the dinner table.

Several weeks ago it was our church's national day of service. We woke up early on Saturday and got assigned to pick up litter along the side of the road. The boys were great workers and kept talking about how sad it was that someone would throw trash outside. Hopefully they will remember this lesson for a long time.

Last year we got all new white windows put in our house so this summer it was our plan to paint the exterior of the house to match better with them. After getting several bids we ended up going with the lowest one because the guy was a client of Scott's. End result - you get what you pay for. The painting itself looks good, but it took an entire month for our house to finally get done, after the entire project being put off for a month before that. We're happy that this project is finally complete and now we are focusing on updating our basement. Hopefully this winter project will the last one for a while.
