I want to catch the ball!

Scott was given some great seats to the Mariners/Reds game last weekend. We were sitting just 10 rows up from the dugout and luckily at the end of a row so Jaden could roam around. Jaden spent the first 20 mins of the game holding his mitt high in the air yelling, "I want to catch the ball"!
He soon tired of holding his hand in the air and turned his focus to the treats we had packed for the game. Life couldn't get better for this little guy - hanging out at a baseball game, eating gummy worms, and staying up way past his bedtime.

A fun weekend

Friday: For work Scott had to be at the Seattle Storms basketball game. Scott does love sports, but if you know him at all you can guess how little he was looking forward to going to a WNBA game on a Friday night. Luckily I had an old friend from high school visiting that night so I was off the hook (I had a great time Bethany, let's do it again soon). Jaden didn't care who was playing, he was so excited about the idea of going to a basketball game with Daddy that he refused to nap that day in fear he would miss it.

Saturday: Scott and I attended a wedding of one of his co-workers. It was so nice to get dressed up and go out by ourselves. Jaden didn't seem to mind, since he got to spend the day with his Aunt Heather. He gets so excited if anyone comes over, and talks about it for days. So everyone please keep coming to visit, we love to have company!
We tried to take a picture of just the two of us, but Jaden ran right over and insisted that he needed to be in the pictures too. You'd think he would have at least smiled after all of that.

Sunday: We were able to fit a lot into Father's Day. After church we came home, had a quick lunch and opened a few presents. Then we packed up the car and headed to Yakima. My dad is fishing in Alaska right now, but we had a nice dinner with my Mom and Heather. After that we headed over to Chad and Amy's house for dessert.

Jackson, Jaden and Mitchell..."yummy"!

Monday: Scott was "working" at a UW golf tournament at the Yakima Country Club. A pretty sweet deal, he got paid for playing golf and I got to hang out with my family all day. Melissa flew in that morning for a week visit, the timing was great so we got to see her and her and Mackayla. Since we are both due with our second child just a few days apart, we also got to compare bellies. I've got her beat, but I'm sure it's just the extra 5 days I have on her that makes all the difference...maybe....yeah, probably not.

Just for Fun: We went over to Heather's new place to look around. Grandma Davenport came with us and showed us that even though she's almost 90, she's still got it!!!

Happy Father's Day

Scott is a wonderful father, from the start he was a natural. Jaden loves his daddy so much and misses him when he is gone at work. Several times a day Jaden asks if he can go to work with daddy or when he will be home. In fact, the main reason that I can get Jaden to take a nap each day is that he knows that when he wakes up Scott will be home soon.
Scott never complains when he gets home from a long day and I pass Jaden on to him. He helps him eat dinner, bathes him, and puts him to bed. If it weren't for Scott, I'm not sure that Jaden and I would make it out of the house at all some days. Scott is always eager to take us to new places or to simply go to the park down the street. He has taught Jaden so many things, especially how to be kind and loving to his mother which I great appreciate.

Happy Father's Day Scott!
We love you!!!

I'm not sure where he comes up this these things...

Jaden has been pretty funny lately. Today I was writing down a few things in his baby book so I wouldn't forget them later on. I thought I'd share a few of them on here as well.

We've been working on potty training with Jaden and he's getting pretty good (when he wants to be). Last night Scott asked Jaden if he needed to go potty before bed, he said yes and jumped off the couch. Jaden ran to the bathroom, turned around and stated (while holding up one finger), "A little privacy please," and shut the door. He was in there for awhile by himself before he opened the door back up to say, "Daddy, Jaden needs help".

Last week while getting ready for bed, Jaden bumped his head on the dresser and got "big owies". I was trying to calm him down so I asked him if he wanted to bless his owie to get better in his nightly prayer. He stopped crying right away and folded his arms. As soon as we said amen he looked up at me in amazement and said, "Mommy, my owie is all better".

Yesterday while playing blocks, Jaden got carried away knocking his tower over and mommy got an owie on her knee. He quickly walked over to his chair, folded his arms and told me that we should say a prayer for my owie. Jaden said the sweetest prayer all by himself and then asked me if I was better... after that, of course I was!

Back Home

Scott was in Orlando this past week for a conference, so Jaden and I went to Yakima to stay with my parents while he was gone. I had Scott take the camera so he could take pictures of his trip, unfortunately he's not in most of the pictures so I just posted two.

The Resort where the conference was held and where Scott stayed

Scott and some of his friends tried to drive to the Kennedy Space Center to watch the space shuttle launch. Traffic was so backed up that they could only get as close as 20 miles away.

I stole this picture from Amy's page since it's the only one taken while we were in Yakima. Scott may have been in Florida, but Chad and Amy's unfinished basement was as good as Hawaii as far as Jaden was concerned.

I've been tagged...

I'm more of the just post pictures of my family type of blogger, but I got tagged with this questionnaire on my friend Heidi's page. Since Scott's in Orlando this week and I really don't have too much going on I don't really have an excuse not to...so here it goes:

What was I doing ten years ago?
This was the summer right after my friends and I got our driver's license. I'm pretty sure we spent most nights driving around Yakima looking for other kids driving around with nothing to do.

What was I doing one year ago?
Scott had just finished his MBA at Ohio University. We were boxing up all our stuff to put in storage for the next 6 months so we could move to Seattle for an internship with the University of Washington. It was a crazy time but we grateful that we did, since they ended up hiring Scott on full-time.

5 snacks I enjoy...
1. Hands down - Watermelon
2. Ice cream
3. Fudge
4. Grapefruit
5. Fried eggs

*These are about the only foods that ever sound good to me this pregnancy. Not sure where the egg thing came from...?

5 songs I know all the words to...
1. Happy Birthday - Jaden's FAVORITE song
2. Book of Mormon Stories - Jaden's second favorite song
3-5. I'm actually really bad and knowing all the words to songs
5 things I would do if I had a million dollars
1. I'd be in Orlando right now with Scott
2. We'd finally build our storage sheds
3. Buy a house, a boat and all the other toys that we always dream about
4. Go the grocery store and buy all the expensive items that I usually feel guilty about
5. Most likely we'd put most of it in savings

5 of my bad habits...
1. When talking to someone I don't know very well I tend to look everywhere but at the actual person
2. Stay up too late while still getting nothing accomplished
3. Waste time on the computer during nap time
4. Eating right before I go to bed
5. Feeling like I always have to be right...poor Scott puts up with a lot

5 things I like doing...
1. Being on/at/near the water...notice I didn't say IN the water
2. Playing at the park with Jaden
3. Spending time with our families...thanks mom and dad for taking me in this week
4. Getting my hair cut and styled
5. Playing tennis or riding bikes with Scott

5 things I will never wear again...
1. About 1/3 of the clothes in my closet, I just can't seem to get rid of them
2. Inch thick glasses
3. Long hair - I just got it cut today
4. Overalls
5. Sadly my wedding dress

5 of my favorite toys...
1. Kitchen Aid - I just got it and I love it!
2. Computer - Same reason as the above
3. Sewing Machine - even though I don't really know how to use it yet
4. Settlers of Catan
5. The Baby Name Wizard Book I just checked out from the library

I tag:
Anyone that reads this...except for Chad. I'm just afraid it would take you way too long to write and me too long to read.

Growing up

I just took Jaden in for his two year check up. Since we recently moved this was our first time to his new pediatrician's office. Like all his other check ups in the past the nurses and doctor were amazed at how big he was for his age. As Dr. Stevens was going over his chart she said, " I assume he has always been above average for his head size and his height" She was correct...can you guess which grandpa he inherited each quality from?

Grandpa Hatfield

Grandpa Holt

We have entered the stage where Jaden feels the need to pick out everything from what cup he drinks out of to what he wears each day. Although I try to heavily persuade him what he should wear during the day, we let him have free reign over what he wears for pajamas. This was the lovely number he came up with the other night.
