Never a dull moment

This has been quite the exciting weekend for our little Logie Bogie. Friday night Logan was wearing one of his dad's shirts and tripped on it while going down the stairs which resulted in a broken collar bone. The amazing part is that the ER visit was only an hour long total! It was a clean break so Logan just has to try to sit still (yeah right) and wear this sling to keep it stable. The first night was horrible, every time he moved he screamed out in pain. It has been four days and he rarely complains about it now.
Logan turned 3 yesterday which was a great distraction from his injury. We had a fun party with family. I usually make a pinata for the kid's on their birthday and this year Logan wanted a football. I make them by gluing on about a million crumpled up balls of tissue paper. After the party Logan took one of the balls of tissue paper he found on the floor and decided to shove it up his nose. It was too far up there for us to be able to get it out by ourselves so we got to take him the dr to have them remove it. We left that dr appointment and headed right over to the orthopedic center to get another x-ray (which showed the bone healing nicely) so it has been a busy morning.
Coming home from the emergency room.

The next day he was able to smile a little for a picture of his "cast".

The best part of getting hurt right before your birthday is all the balloons!

The poor kid didn't want to miss out on the fun just because he was injured, he tried swinging with his left arm.

Aunt Heather and Grandma Davenport enjoying the festivities.

Cannon partied too hard and finally had to crash out on the couch.

September

September has been a busy month and has flown past in our household. We started the month with Cannon's baby blessing, we took a weekend trip to one of our favorite places, Remlinger Farms, and we got used to waking up early for school every morning. All these pictures I uploaded are in reverse order and I'm not going to bother to try to switch them around.
Poor little Cannon has developed a flat spot on his head so in an effort to get him off of his head as much of possible we got him this bumbo seat. He likes it for about 5 minutes at a time but then wants to be held again. As you can see he is growing quite nicely. When I took him in for his 2 month check up he was 15 lbs 10 oz -97% and measured 98% for height. He really isn't quite as chubby as he looks in this picture.

Jaden and Logan love having Cannon join them in all their activities.

Chad and Amy had a little girl named Eden this month. She is adorable and makes my baby seem like a giant!

Cannon is a big talker these days. He loves to smile and talk to anyone that will give him a little attention.

Logan misses Jaden while he is gone at school, but he is also loving having more attention. He also loves his new role of big brother. Today in the car the big boys were talking to Cannon. Jaden was saying "oohh Cannon you are so cute..." while Logan was saying "you're not a big brother Cannon..." Then Logan turned to Jaden and said, "Cannon said he wishes he was a big brother like us."

We stayed the night at a cabin at Ensign Ranch on our way to Remlinger Farms. The kids loved it, but I would have preferred to sleep in my own bed and just woken up earlier the next day.

Remlinger Farms is a (small) kids amusement park, perfect for my aged boys. They put on a little show and Jaden got to be a volunteer, pretty exciting stuff for a 5 year old.

Jaden's favorite part of the park was this roller coaster. There weren't any lines so as soon as he got off he would run around and get right back on. I think he rode it 15-20 times that day.

Scott took Cannon on the pumpkin ride.

Logan talked about riding a horse the whole week before we left but when it came time he just didn't have it in him to actually get near the horse. Jaden has made major strides in overcoming his fear of animals and rode the horse several times that day.

This is Cannon at 2 months, he won't fit into the infant carrier much longer.

The boys love going to Scott's office to help clean.

We were lucky to have a lot of family around for Cannon's blessing day. Scott's parents, both sets of his grandparents and our neice Sarah drove up from Idaho/Utah. My family (that lives locally) were there too, but somehow I didn't manage to get them in any of the photos.

This a random picture but I like it because it sort of captures Logan's mischievous look. Logan is a crazy kid and does pretty much anything he wants regardless of what we tell him. Right before he's about to do something he isn't suppose to he gets this little sly smile on his face that is hilarious me. The kid is so silly all the time, it's hard to get mad at him for being naughty.
There are 4 generations of Dean Holt's in this picture. Dean Holt, Alan Dean Holt, Scott Dean Holt and Cannon Dean Holt.

Cannon got to experience his first BYU game.

Golf

Scott and his dad took Jaden golfing a few weekends ago at a small par 3 golf course here in Yakima. Jaden was so excited and did well, but from what I hear nine holes is a little too long for him yet. Logan got to meet up with the boys and join them for the last few holes. To him golfing means picking up your ball and dropping it in the hole.

First Day of School

We survived the first day of school. Jaden has been looking forward to this day all summer long and woke up very early so he wouldn't be late. He was beaming all morning which made it easier for me to leave him at school all day. This crazy town of ours has all day kindergarten!!! Logan was pretty sad to see his brother go off without him.

It turned out to be cold and rainy so I probably should have dressed Jaden warmer. Whoops!

Does this look like a kid that is upset to be separated from his mom all day? I guess I would rather have him not miss me than to have him sad at school. The first thing he said to me when I picked him up at the end of the day was, "I want to come back again!" He made me promise him that he could ride the bus in the morning. Ours is the last stop so he will only be on the bus for like 2 mins so I guess he'll be okay, but it still breaks my heart to think of him being so old!

As I was loading the kids into the car after picking Jaden up from school I realized that Jaden's backpack was all wet. Turns out he didn't finish his juice at lunch and put it back into this lunch bag which apparently isn't waterproof! He now knows that if he doesn't finish all his drink than he needs to just throw it away rather than save it for later.

Cannon is smiling like crazy these days and learning to talk to us with all his coos. I tried to capture his smile but I was either too quick or too slow on the trigger. He still looks adorable though!

We tried to pack as much fun into the last few days of summer. We love having a usable backyard!

These boys always seem to get themselves into mischief while I'm feeding Cannon. I'm not sure where their clothes are during all of this (probably in the mountain of toys).

I love this picture, it shows off the little boys personalities.

Trying to keep my head above the water

Transitioning from two to three kids at home has been smoother than I thought it would be. The only big difference is that my to-do list keeps getting longer and longer and blogging isn't a very high priority. A couple of weeks ago I added uploaded this pictures, but I never got around to actually posting them. Anyway, here are some newer but not current pictures of Cannon and the older boys.

We convinced my dad to take us out on his boat a few weeks ago and it was a blast. Jaden rode the tube most of day while Logan after a few spins preferred to just ride on the boat and eat snacks. Cannon spent the day sleeping on the land, next summer though he'll get to join in on the fun.

Logan had so much fun that he crashed as soon as we loaded up in the car.

We went to a luau at my uncle's house and they cooked a whole pig. The boys especially Jaden thought it was awesome. Here is my mom reserving her portion on the feast!

Scott's dad had some meetings in Seattle a few weekends ago so we headed over there to spend the weekend with them and Scott's brother's family (who drove up from Portland). We had plans to go to the zoo but when we got to Seattle it was cold and raining. We went ahead and took the kids to the zoo but it was pouring rain most of the time there. The boys didn't seem to mind and luckily there are several exhibits that had shelter.

Jaden before he knew we were taking a picture of him.

Jaden after finding out we were taking his picture.

My boys with their cousin KJ.

We love the coast and a trip to Seattle wouldn't be complete without throwing some rocks into the ocean.

Scott, Mark and our friend Doug spent a long time playing a game where the person in the middle throws up a rock and the other two try to hit it with another rock.

Once again Cannon spent most of the time sleeping.

The other day I asked Jaden to hold Cannon while I switched the laundry. When I came to take Cannon back a few minutes later Cannon was asleep. Jaden was so proud of himself and has declared himself to be in charge of naps from now on.
