My baby turns 4!!!

Yesterday was Jaden's birthday. We have been celebrating a little all week, but Jaden was very excited for his big day to finally come around. He is such a grown up boy that I often think he must be older than four, but then I have I hard time believing I have a kid that old. Jaden has been saying that he wanted a hot dog birthday party. I wasn't sure exactly how to go about so we settled for going to Costco for lunch to get a foot long hot dog and drink and then having a bbq for dinner.
We kicked off the morning with a candle floating in his ceral.

Jaden wanted to get out the bin of halloween costumes to play dress up while eagerly waiting for his party to start.

Logan ate his entire foot long hot dog!

The happy birthday boy enjoying his dog and drink.

Jaden spend a lot of time this week sitting on the couch staring longingly at his presents.

We were so happy that Grandma Davenport was able to come to the party despite all the stairs we have.

We were hoping for better weather, but the boys still braved the cold and ate outside.

The rest of us staying inside.

I think Jaden set a world record for the fastest present opener of all time.

What better way to end a great party than with cake!

Before and After

We are almost done with all the changes we're making to the house just a couple more days and then we are there. We actually moved all of our belongings out of storage yesterday, but probably won't start living there until mid week. Here a few pictures of updates we made to the house, I'll have to post pictures of the bathrooms later since they aren't quite finished yet.

I guess I didn't get a before picture but this is another bedroom upstairs

Logan was at the house for literally 10 minutes the other day and already broke it in. We found pen markings up and down this door after he left. I guess it's just a taste of what's to come!

It snowed today!

It's the middle of April, but we has snow on the ground today. The boys wanted to go out so badly, so I pulled out the gear and let them enjoy what little stuck to the ground. Logan spend the entire time trying to eat the snow and I think that Jaden just wanted to go out so he could come in and have some hot cocoa.

I feel like I have been having a really hard time getting a picture decent picture of my kids lately. Logan has learned to say cheese with his entire face, and Jaden either closes his eyes or looks the opposite way of the camera. Here a couple of the outtakes.

I put up several new post today, so if you want to kill some time go ahead and take a look!

Easter

We had a really nice Easter with the exception that Scott had to fly out that morning for some meetings in Arizona. The weekend was full with several easter egg hunts, a basket of goodies from the easter bunny, and fun with family!

House

We are making progress. We are hoping to be able to move in next week! My dad has been working like crazy over there helping us get everything done. Scott has been trying to put in as many hours over there as he can but has been pretty busy with work. He's actually in Arizona this week so I'm hoping to surprise him with how much we accomplished while he's gone. I go over after lunch and work until dinner. My mom watches the kids for me (and my sister Heather when she gets off work in the afternoons) so I can get my hours in. It's been a pretty good system, but I do miss my kids!

Jaden really wanted to help paint so we let him paint (well put on primer anyway) in his bedroom. He was pretty excited!

My poor dad came home like this after a long day at the house!
Three cheers for Costco for selling quality light fixtures for much less than anywhere else!

My grandma goes to Taco Bell for lunch pretty much everyday. She doesn't drive so my parents take her and we tag along a lot of the time. This is something that is definitely going to slow down once we move over to our new house. It's nice not to have to make or clean up lunch, but really who wants to eat tacos everyday? Well my kids do, they here the word taco and they start running for the door. Logan has stated calling my grandma "Grandma Taco".

During Logan's nap time, Jaden usually gets to watch a show for his quiet time (while I'm over at the house). He recently discovered that the couch folds out into a bed and now likes to set it all up to watch a little scooby doo in style.

April 1st

Jaden is at a perfect age for fun April Fool's Day. He things just about anything is funny and he's still young enough to believe pretty much anything we tell him. We'd tell him something and he's say yeah right you were just April Foolin' but there was always that question in his voice. Logan didn't seem to notice much of anything different, not even when I got him dressed that day and put all his clothes on backwards. For dinner we did the classic jello drinks with a meatloaf cake. It went over pretty good and not only fooled the boys but also my grandma which was pretty much the highlight of the day. The other highlight was as I was serving up the slices of "cake" on side got too heavy and the whole cake stand fell over and meatloaf went flying everywhere. It was definitely a silly day.

Trying out the jello drinks

I asked the boys who wanted cake before dinner.

The precious moment after my grandma realized what we served her.
The blob of food after the fall.

House progress

I can't believe I let so much time go by since my last post! We signed the papers on our house a couple of weeks ago and are in the process of making a few changes before we move in.

At first we thought we would just replace the carpet and paint a few walls. Then we decided that we might as well scrape off the popcorn ceilings throughout the house, which means that we have to texture and paint the ceilings as well (we meaning mostly Scott and my dad). We had talked about replacing the doors and moulding and had decided not to do it right now, but then the next day we saw in the Lowe's ad that doors were on sale so we decided to go for it...why not?
As of now we have ripped out the old carpet, scraped the ceilings, taken down wallpaper, removed all the door frames and moulding. This week we need to remove some tile and work on replacing the bathroom counter tops. Taking everything apart is the easy part, and I'm starting to get pretty nervous about putting everything back together again. My dad has been showing us what do to as we go, otherwise we would really be in a big mess right now! Scott leaves for Arizona in two weeks so we are hoping to be able to move in soon after he gets back from that trip.

Out with the old doors in the with new

I'm not sure my boys are going to want to move out of my parents house when it's time for us to finally move in. They have adjusted really well moving from Pullman to Yakima. I hope they do as well when we move houses and wards again. Jaden loves the primary in my parents ward. Every week since we've been here I've been told by different leaders how great Jaden is class and sharing time. I haven't been able to see him in action, but I guess he raises his hand for every question then gives long thought out answers. They usually aren't the correct answer to the question, but they are always gospel related. I hope he does as well in our new ward as I've heard it's quite a bit larger. Jaden is just growing up so quickly, I can't believe that my little baby is almost 4 years old!

Speaking of old, I turned 28 last month. How in the world am I old enough to be going to my 10 year high school reunion this summer?!

A few weeks ago they had an Elder's Quorum pine wood derby activity. Jaden absolutely loved it! His car didn't go too far into the competition, but I don't think he noticed.
